What was accomplished

●       After the ArduPilot command layer was validated, the operator interface was expanded into a more complete mission GUI with structured waypoint entry and mission controls.

●       JSON mission loading was added so prepared waypoint sets could be imported directly into the application, reducing repetitive manual entry and making mission configurations easier to reproduce.

●       The application was then converted into a local browser-based web interface, separating the operator controls from the flight-control backend and providing a safer, more controlled workflow for SITL testing and later real-drone operation.


Challenges and solutions

The main challenge was moving from the earlier desktop workflow to a web-based interface without losing synchronization with ArduPilot. The team repeatedly tested waypoint loading, mission commands, status indicators, and mission logs in simulation to confirm the front end and backend remained consistent.


Next steps plan

Extend the mission logic with a mapping flight mode that moves the aircraft through the search area using controlled straight-line passes.
